Julie Sweeney, MD FAAP
Dr. Julie Sweeney has been caring for patients and families in New York and Connecticut for over 15 years. She has an extensive background in pediatric food allergy care not only through her training and professional experience but also through her personal experience as a food allergy mom.
She started working in private practice in Connecticut in 2009 after completing her pediatric residency at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in New York. She founded Allergy Mom MD in 2020, to share her knowledge and learned experiences with other “allergy moms”. She realized that parents needed a physician they could consult with to address the challenges of raising a child with food allergies and intolerances. They were looking for a doctor who “gets it” and could take the time to work alongside them and help them navigate their child’s care. Dr. Sweeney transformed Allergy Mom MD into a virtual coaching practice so she could reach more families.
Dr. Sweeney is an active member of the Darien community. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Darien Emergency Medical Service -Post 53 where she started as an EMT almost 25 years ago. She is also the Medical Advisor for Maureen Bloom Playdates and enjoys leading food allergy training sessions for teachers and community members.
When she is not in the office, she can be found at a baseball field with her 3 boys (Ryan, Liam and Finn), her husband (Bill) and their dog (Mack). She enjoys playing tennis, paddle and practicing yoga.
Dr. Sweeney is board certified by The American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also a graduate of the Academy of Pediatric Integrative Medicine Program.
